Ugh. First of all, it’s a zombie movie so my expectations were low to begin with. Zack Snyder likes bokeh. Apparently shot at f/0.95, the shallow depth of field feels strenuous at times. Some of the visuals do look great, especially in 4K HDR, but the movie as a whole is terrible.

It’s not even good ol’ silly stupid fun. I’m being generous rating it two stars. It’s a mess and a wasted opportunity. Watch Dawn of the Dead by the same director instead, or for something a bit different: Shaun of the Dead.
