This is clearly the first part of a series. It felt cut off just when the story was about to unfold. After the first episode, umm movie, I would say that it should have been made into an (epic) series or mini-series. You know, one of those where you don't have to wait two years to continue watching.
The movie was slow and rushed at the same time. Sure, the imagery is nice, but I felt no emotions watching it. Maybe the second part will change my opinion about this adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel, but as it stands now, Dune is a pretentious movie completely devoid of any emotion. Two stars for some visuals and for bringing back fond memories of playing Dune II1 (and Dune 20002) back in the 90s.
